Extract depth data from portrait photos ("Portrait Mode" photos taken with the dual camera from the iPhone 7/8 Plus models or with the TrueDepth front camera from the iPhone X/Xs/Xs Max models). Depth data is saved as a PNG file into your camera roll.
Embed arbitrary depth data back into photos, or even into photos that dont have depth data in the first place.
Disparity can be used for creating nice 3D effects for sharing on social platforms such as Facebook. By modifying existing depth data and baking back in or adding new depth data into photos without depth data, the possibilities are only limited by imagination.
Even though Disparity runs on any supported iPhone without the depth camera, you may be limited to uploading 3D Photos to Facebook only on devices that has a depth camera such as iPhone 7 Plus, iPhone X or newer. This is a limitation of Facebook, not Disparity. In that case, you may send your photo to a supported device and try from there but make sure you send the actual file, not a converted version of it as converting may cause a loss of depth data.
Disparity is not an editor, its just a small helper app that extracts and merges depth data to/from photos. You may use your favorite editor to actually edit the depth data.
If designing a depth map from scratch, please make sure that the depth map has the same aspect ratio with your target image. A width of 480 pixels is recommended for the depth map, as anything wider will be resized to fit 480 pixels of width.
